Why Does My Tooth Hurt When the X-Ray Looks Normal?
You have tooth pain, but your dental X-ray looks normal. So why does the tooth still hurt?

A normal-looking X-ray does not always mean that there is no problem. Some causes of tooth pain may be difficult to detect on a routine X-ray, especially in their early stages.

Pain may be related to the tooth’s nerve, a small crack, inflammation around the root, bite-related stress, or tissues surrounding the tooth.

The pattern of pain matters. Does it hurt with cold or hot? Does it hurt when you bite? Does the pain continue after the trigger is removed? Does it come and go or spread toward the jaw, ear or face?

These details can help guide the evaluation.

A proper assessment may involve your symptoms, dental history, clinical examination, sensitivity testing, bite assessment and appropriate imaging.

Most importantly, tooth pain does not automatically mean you need a Root Canal Treatment.

If unexplained tooth pain continues or returns in Wakad, Pimple Gurav, Rahatani or nearby areas, don't simply wait for it to disappear.

When the X-ray looks normal but the tooth still hurts, finding the cause should come before choosing the treatment.
