When Does a Tooth Actually Need Root Canal Treatment?
A tooth may need Root Canal Treatment (RCT) when the pulp—the living tissue inside the tooth—becomes seriously inflamed or infected. This can happen because of deep decay, a crack, trauma, repeated dental treatment, or an untreated infection.

Common warning signs include persistent toothache, prolonged sensitivity to hot or cold, pain while biting, spontaneous pain, swelling, or a recurring gum boil. But symptoms alone cannot decide whether you need an RCT. Some infected teeth may cause very little pain.

This is why the first step should be diagnosis—not automatically choosing a treatment.

A dental examination and, when required, X-rays or other imaging help determine the condition of the pulp, roots and surrounding tissues. The dentist also needs to assess whether the tooth can be restored and preserved.

At OralNest Dental Clinic, Wakad, the focus is on understanding the tooth first and then choosing the appropriate treatment.

If you have persistent tooth pain around Wakad, Pimple Gurav, Rahatani or nearby areas, don't simply treat the pain. Find out what is causing it.

Root canal treatment should be a clinical decision—not a guess.
