What Actually Happens During Root Canal Treatment?
If you have been told that you may need a root canal, you may wonder what actually happens during the procedure.

Root Canal Treatment is designed to treat infection or irreversible inflammation inside a tooth while allowing the natural tooth to remain in function.

First, the tooth is carefully assessed to understand the source and extent of the problem. Once treatment is planned, the area is comfortably anaesthetised and the tooth is isolated. An opening is then made to access the internal root canal system.

The affected tissue is removed, and the canals are carefully cleaned, shaped and disinfected. They are then sealed to reduce the possibility of reinfection. The tooth usually requires a final restoration to protect its remaining structure and restore function.

The exact procedure can vary depending on the tooth, number and shape of canals, extent of infection, previous treatment and remaining tooth structure. A straightforward front tooth and a complex molar do not necessarily involve the same level of treatment.

If you are considering Root Canal Treatment in Wakad, Pimple Gurav, Rahatani or nearby areas, understanding the process can make the treatment decision clearer.

Root Canal Treatment is not simply “removing the nerve.” It is a carefully planned process of cleaning, disinfecting, sealing and restoring the tooth.
