Dental Implant, Bridge or Denture: How Are Missing Teeth Replaced?
When a tooth is missing, there is more than one way to replace it. The appropriate option depends on the individual condition of your mouth—not simply on the fact that a tooth is absent.

A dental implant uses an implant placed within the jawbone to support a replacement tooth. A dental bridge replaces the missing tooth using support from neighbouring teeth. A removable denture can replace one or several missing teeth and is designed to be taken out when required.

Each option has different requirements, benefits and limitations. Bone volume, gum health, the condition of neighbouring teeth, bite, the number and location of missing teeth, and overall oral health can all influence the decision.

An implant may be suitable in one situation but inappropriate in another. Similarly, a bridge or denture may be a more practical choice depending on the clinical circumstances.

The important question is therefore not “Which replacement is best?” but “Which option is appropriate for my particular mouth?”
A proper evaluation helps make that decision based on your anatomy, function, oral health and long-term needs.
